I have recently purchased a modest set of LED Christmas lights from a well know supermarket. The lights are battery powered, taking 2x 1.5v AA batteries (told you it was modest)The question is – can I use an off-the-shelf 9v battery to power the lights for longer?I have attached a 9v battery with just a black and red wire adaptor and the lights come on fine – plus they are brighter. They show no signs of burning out or anything.I have read that I should use a resistor but is it required if they are working? Also, will the 9v give a longer illumination or will it be the same with the additional luminance?This is provide some lights for a LEGO xmas tree so will be left on for several days.Your input is appreciated. via /r/DIY https://ift.tt/2KQf944
