My wife has recently been hired on with a local govt agency in our city. She was previously employed by a credit union where she has a 401k that was matched by her employer. They have given her an option of rolling her current 401k over to an IRA or removing all ties to her employer on the 401k and letting her keep it that way with the third party company that handles their retirement (she will have a 401b with her new employer). I’ve attempted to read up on IRA vs. 401k but I guess I need to ELI5 pros and cons version. Idk what other information is important in making this decision. Any help appreciated.
