Going to the movies isn't the most frugal living but you can ball on a budget. I could never finish the big bags of popcorn they have at the movie theaters and bugged the clerks one time about it and let me in on a little secret. Many of them offer kids meals but don't advertise it. For $7 you get a small fountain soda, very small popcorn (think 2 large handfuls), and a small bag of gummy bears. If you look young enough, you can get away with it, otherwise you'll have to step into the moral gray and pretend you are getting it for your kid whose at their seat already. I've never ran into an issue. Hope it helps.
