Mods might delete so I'm trying again with more info.My wife really likes the look of this plaster finish. The image is taken from this article on Remodelista. The article indicates that material used was USG Diamond Veneer - I have always understood that specific product to be used as an alternative to drywall and joint compound. I have never seen it tinted and used as decorative finish. The article also states that they used pigment dispersions from Guerra Paint & Pigment - though I suspect that any pigment would work. The finish is similar to venetian plaster. I do not want to use venetian plaster because that process uses specialized material, has a complicated process and is expensive. It is also similar to a lime wash. Though less expensive, I don't really want to go this way either because again it uses specialized material.Faux paint in suede finish is also out because that treatment looks like faux paint, not plaster. Not necessary a bad look, just not what I'm going for.I am comfortable preparing the surface, skim coating and tinting plaster - I don't need a plaster basics.I do need input from someone with experience. Does anyone have any experience with how this mottled look is created? Is it multiple layers of different color? Is it the sanding process? Is water used to displace the pigment? A glaze?I have crawled google and youtube and found nothing more than the fact that Diamond Veneer can be tinted. Nothing about how different decorative effects are created with that specific product.Note to the mods: If you leave this up, and IF I get help or figure out how to do this I will post a tutorial for other users to follow. via /r/DIY https://ift.tt/2QbMkVr
