I built a new desk for my office. I was originally going to use IKEA's "solid wood countertop," which retail for around $300. I got one home only to discover it is plywood with thin wood veneer on top. gross.after some researching, I discovered Home Depot sells a 6ftx2ft @ 1.25" thick solid wood (laminated boards) "work top" for their "Husky" brand workshop bench system. it costs half as much as the IKEA countertop, and is actually finished (matte clear) solid wood (white poplar or maple, not sure).https://thd.co/2QWqfKU don't work for Home Depot, just sharing this in case people are looking for a good source of solid wood for a desk or countertop. Note: you have to order this to your local store and pick it up. via /r/DIY http://bit.ly/2VeGfGR
