Hello, I’m currently planning out a desk I’m building and have one last hurdle I need to figure out before I start building. The desk is going to be very basic with the top being 4 1x6 boards of oak laid out on a frame made of 1x2 oak boards with some bracing underneath the desktop. The base of the desk is going to be black pipe like you’ve seen on a thousand diy desks and table tops.My issue is I’m not sure how to join the corners of the frame. I’d like to cut each 1x2 at 45 degrees on each end so there isn’t any visible end grain at the corners but I’m not sure how to securely join such thin boards at an angle like that. It doesn’t seem like that’s enough surface area to make glue by itself a sturdy joint. i thought about adding some brad nails but I don’t have a nail gun and don’t know anyone in my area who has one.Any help or advice (on any part of the project if you think there’s a better way) would be greatly appreciated! via /r/DIY https://ift.tt/2PrsfFs
