I just bought a house. Master bath has a Nutone 696ND-B exhaust fan in the master bathroom, which is 50 CFM. It looks builder grade, and is about 20 years old.The bathroom has a separate side room with the shower stall and toilet. It's about 8' X 3'. This small toilet room leads to a much larger bathroom room, about 10.5'x9', which has a soaking tub and sinks. When showering and using the exhaust fan, is it best to keep the toilet / shower room closed, or should the door be open, allowing more fresh air in? I'm looking at installing a 60 CFM upgrade kit. If the door is open, is it considered one room, and thus need a motor with CFM rating to cover the entire 2 rooms?I know the exhaust fan size recommendation is based on room size (1 CFM per square foot) , but I'm not sure how that factors in leaving of the door open. I've always been taught to leave the bathroom door open when running the exhaust. I'm also considering removing the door entirely, as it gets in the way a bit.Location: central MarylandBathroom - exhaust fan https://ift.tt/2zNvB0M via /r/DIY https://ift.tt/2L5MCaF
