After my son's stitches, the doctor billed over $10k. Our insurance said they negotiated the bill down by 9k and we only owe $45. The doctor is requesting that we send a copy of the Summary Plan Description b/c they were underpaid and need to submit an appeal. What should we do?

Most info is in the title. But the doctor's office sent us a letter saying they need tk submit an appeal on our behalf. In the letter they said they can't get access to the SPD unless we personal login to our insurance portal and send them a copy of it.

I don't want to screw the doctor out of money, but I obviously don't want to put myself on the hook for the giant, ridiculous bill.

Any advice would be appreciated.
