Looking at purchasing stocks of companies that invest venture capital in startups and trying to figure out how this is reflected in the financials such as book value and earnings. One example is Alibaba's ownership of 1/3 of Ant Financial. What if the company has gone public, is the value reflected differently if the has gone public?
Any help would be appreciated.
