This may seem really obvious. But until now I've never realized I have the habit of buying more shampoo/body wash/conditioner, snacks, candles etc. before I'm actually out of my current stash. I've noticed that I often underestimate how much life is left in these objects before I go out and buy new ones: I'll buy new shampoo thinking I've only got one wash left in my current bottle, but it turns out my current bottle actually has another week or 2 in it. I think for some reason I'm afraid to run out of things so I always want to stock up. But, for example, once I stopped stocking up on certain snacks before I ran out of my current stash, I realized that I don't actually want those snacks unless they're already in my cabinet. So if I wait until I use up my current stash before I buy more, I actually get the choice of whether I want to buy them again, instead of just assuming I'll want them in the future because I want them now. It's a very simple principle but maybe some of you can relate.

Eventually you will probably have to end up buying the new product, like shampoo or soap, so it's not that this will save you tons of cash. But at least you'll get to hold on to your cash longer and not be spending it on things you don't need (yet). It's nice not to have stuff cluttering your home, and you'll get to have more cash on hand in case there's some sort of emergency, or in the event that you decide to save it or spend it on something else.

This isn't always feasible for people who live very far from their preferred store or shop for bargains, but just keep in mind that sometimes things last way longer than you'll expect them to, and it's not that hard to go a day or so without some things if you do happen to run out.
