Heya. So, I'm thinking of renting a room closer to my work in the near future. Thing is I've never made a budget(that anyone's stuck to) in my life.
Now on paper it seems pretty simple. Write down income, expected expenses, and debts, right? Does it work that way in practice?
I make $2,400/mo, split into 3 payments of $800. I'm going to have a $200/mo car payment for 12 months. Rent in the area I'm looking at is $500-800. Gas is about $3.70/gal, and my mpg will be 20-28. I think for food I'd be $250/mo?
As for debts, I'm kinda in trouble. Past due on utilities, owe ~$300 to a phone company, $300 to a loan agency, and $300 to another place.
I have no savings, and no credit score. I'm hoping to work on that and the debts once I move.
Is there anything I'm missing? Any software or apps that can help me put a budget together?
