I want to lose 12 pounds, ideally till the end of the year at the latest. Since diets don't work in the long run, I want to take the simple living approach to weight loss. Do I really need that processed cookie? Do I really need an extra cup of caffe latte? Do I really need to eat, or am I bored? I only have one life, and one body, and I want to give it the nourishment it deserves to keep me alive and kickin'. That tasty cookie won't make me happy two minutes after consuming it, and it certainly won't supply my body with healthy nutrients.
I've been trying to lose weight for the longest time, but it never worked out because I was unhappy about not being able to eat "fun foods" everyone else is enjoying. But hey, I already managed to escape the materialistic, consumerist lifestyle dictated by advertisment and the media. I don't buy make up anymore, I never go shopping unless I absolutely need something, I'm fine with not owning a car, a big house etc. All thanks to changing my mindset in pursuit of a simple, but happier life with less stress. If I, a borderline shopaholic, managed to break the horrible habit of spending money, I might as well change my diet in a sustainable way. No expensive gym membership. No expensive trendy foods. No junk food at all. I think the simple living mindset will ultimately lead me to my goal weight.
Just think of all the TV shows in which junk food is consumed, symbolyzing "good, fun times hanging out with friends" - or skinny celebrities/models posting pictures of their giant ass burgers and fries and coke on Instagram to show off how ~ReLaTaBLe~ they are". I always thought it was NORMAL, and eating a salad or a fresh apple from my garden would give me serious FOMO. What the fuck!
I hope this post inspires some of you struggling to lose weight by taking the simple living approach.
