Took me a couple days of calling around and playing phone tag, but in the end I saved myself about $900! I’m not an expert in healthcare costs by any means, but figured people should know how to work within the system. Call around to a bunch of different hospitals/facilities, even if they’re under the same parent company, every location charges different prices FOR THE SAME THING. Some by $50 or so and others by a couple hundred. They can give you quotes right away usually, but remember that they’re just estimates the real cost could be more or less.

My personal example - I have been having problems with my wrist and my doctor told me I needed an MRI arthaagram with contrast dye. First place I called quoted me $1,200. I called around to a few more places and the lowest I could find was $870. Better but still not what I could afford.

I then told my doctor I couldn’t pay that and so he told me I could get a normal MRI. After calling around again a regular MRI of my wrist will only cost me about $300. Some places were $470 or $600 but the cheapest in my area was for the $300. So glad I took the extra time to look into it further! It’s ridiculous how US healthcare works and the fact that I almost paid twice the amount for the same results but what can you do..
