So I have a couple of American Giant premium t-shirts that are about 2-3 years old at this point and I wear them all the time. Two of them are starting to develop some tiny holes, but otherwise they are in great shape and are a lot more durable than any t-shirts I have ever owned. I expect to keep them until they wear out and it this rate that could be another couple of years of near-daily use.
However, I am looking to get a few more t-shirts and I'm not sure how I ever justified almost $40 for these shirts in the first place, and I'm having trouble thinking about buying more if there are less expensive options out there. There's a fair amount of love for Duluth Trading Company around here and I'm curious if anyone has owned both and can answer some questions for me.
It seems like the general consensus with these brands is that Duluth shirts run large and their cuts are a bit longer. My experience with American Giant is that they're run pretty true to size and I like that they're a little bit fitted. I'm 6'-0" tall and weigh around 200 - 210 lbs. My American Giant shirts are size large and I'm really happy with the fit. Should I look at medium for the Duluth t-shirts? Do you find the quality to be comparable or does one seem to be higher quality than the other?
I'm in a similar position with the some Taylor Stitch flannels. I wear a size large and I like the slimmer fit and the slightly shorter cut (I tend to wear flannels untucked and I've found other brands like LL Bean to be way too long). I see Duluth has trim fit for their free-swinging flannel but not the burlyweight. What sizes would you recommend there? Large for the trim fit, medium for the regular "tradesman fit" shirts? Are they cut long to stay tucked in?
Thank you!
