My water bill is one of the largest in my home and I recently got into toying with the idea of rainwater harvesting and grey water collection. I explored the laws and it's legal where I live.
I recently picked up some rain barrels for free from a neighbor moving out and wanted to begin harvesting rainwater and the grey water from the drain of my washer (roughly 13 gal of water every load goes down the drain). While I've only been able to read all the good about this, I have yet to read any true negatives of this. Anyone have any insight? What could go wrong or what should I expect as real negatives?
I would mainly be using the rainwater to wash my car or water the lawn. The grey water is to be used to flush my toilets (washer is very close to the toilets and I could direct the water into the toilet tank no problem). Does anyone know of any other uses?
