Title pretty much says it, i'm heavily reluctant to put such a large TV on metal studs, sadly the wall has no wooden studs. I did the following:https://ift.tt/2JwAn6a is a picture from behind the wall where the TV is going to be mounted, it's a small hallway to the garage that's closed off so putting a big hole here isn't a problem)Took a good 3-4 feet of 2x4 and attached them to the metal studs for extra support which I've screwed the wall mount into (using lag bolts into the 2x4s). Put up the TV yesterday just as a quick test and things look fairly sturdy. Took the TV off for now though just in case, as I'm planning on taking another 2x4 horizontally across between both studs on the top and bottom for additional support then bolt/nut through those for the wall mountso simple question is, is all of this overkill? is this the correct way of doing it? should I have done things differently/better? via /r/DIY https://ift.tt/2CVfxfF
