First post here and want everyone's help. 30 years old and have a full time job. Recently went on a gambling binge and lost a lot of money. I'm getting help for it, and plan on doing the right things to make a recovery. In the meantime, I wanted to discuss my financial situation and get everyone's advice on what to do moving forward.
I make about $150,000 - $175,000 in a year (I'm on commission, but my sales journal is pretty consistent year to year). I currently have about $25,000 in a 401K, and a loan out to my friend (interest free) for $9,500. I pay $1,550 for rent every month, and am behind on rent, so I currently owe $3,100. I am also in about $10,000 of credit card debt.
I just got paid $9,000 today - and I want to know what the right thing is to do, right now. I'm probably owed about $40,000 from my company right now (I get paid when my clients pay) - and I can expect this money to come over the next couple months.
