I work at a small business and the owner takes care of our accounting/payroll. He accidentally added a "0" to the end of my paycheck resulting in me making substantially more than I should have this pay period. I am going to alert him so I can return the money. However, I am worried that at the end of the year I will have to pay more taxes than I should because my income will be artificially inflated due to this clerical error. Anybody have steps I can take to refund my boss the money and to ensure that I won't be taxed on this income?
