I’m a chairlift operator who spends all day outside. I have recently tried several pairs of boots in colder weather (15F currently) with no success of keeping my toes warm. In fact, my feet tend to literally hurt hours after taking the boots off from being numb for so long. I am afraid I am starting to do damage to my feet just from them going numb for hours at a time. My day consists of either shoveling snow, or standing in one place for hours scanning tickets.
I have tried ThirtyTwo snowboarding boots, Wolverine Work Boots with 200g of Thinsulate, and most recently Oboz Bridger 10” Insulated Waterproof Boots with 400g of Thinsulate. All of them have resulted in cold/numb toes. I wear Merino Wool Darn Tough Socks, and my feet have stayed dry in all conditions.
I came here to ask for help. I originally wanted boots I could use at work and for hiking, but I am beginning to think that may not be the case considering the energy output level difference between hiking and scanning tickets in one place all day.
Do you all have any suggestions on what I should do here? I need to go out and buy boots ASAP to prevent foot damage at work going forward.
My current number one candidate is the Muck Boots Arctic Sport Rubber High Performance Men's Winter Boot, but I would love a boot I could use for hiking in cold weather too. My number one priority though, is to stay warm while standing in one place (literally) for 4 hours at a time.
