Hey guys,
So this is my current situation I am currently looking for advice on.
I'll give a quick summary and point of view at the end to give context.
-
Joined this company as a junior engineer at 45K with probation at 6 months to re-evaluate/negotiate pay based on performance.
-
9 months into the role: I excelled at the position while increasing responsibilities and renegotiated my pay to 65K (With 2 managers assisting them and learning)
- Managing Director low-balled me 50k and I renegotiated to 65K
- However my approach at the time was very poor, I basically said my friend is getting 75K in a similar role, I should get close.
- He ended up VERY reluctantly gave me 65K due to my performance and definitely not negotiation skills.
-
3 months later: One of my direct line managers left and I assume 85% of his roles and responsibilities.
- No salary increase as I did not mention anything to him and felt like I was still growing into the role.
-
4 months later: My other manager left and I essentially presume 90% of his roles and responsibilities
- No renegotiation as this being similar to a sale role, I wanted to wait to get large sells to bring to the table as I am expecting a performance review soon.
-
Few months later, I have converted the sells and it is now time to negotiate my pay which is what I am looking advice on.
- During this time, my company as a whole has been steadily under performing
I definitely want to stay within the company as the freedom it offers is something I value very highly.
How would you approach this scenario and what would you say?
