I have a 1acre yard. Currently mowing with a 20+year old john deere tractor mower. On it's last legs. Takes me about 1.5h to mow. Looking to get a ZT.
So I've done a little bit of research over the past couple years. I need to get one this offseason. Here is what I've learned...
- Stay away from box stores. They have cheaper quality and may make it hard to do repairs if you can't yourself.
- Preferably buy from a dealer.
- Welded deck. Commercial grade welded deck is going to last much longer than any other.
- Now this is optional, but I plan to get used low end. Around 500hours for <$3000.
So I've reached out to several dealers in my area stating this is what I am looking for. Haven't found anything on craigslist.
Is there any other advice anyone can give? Brands to stay away from? Specific things to look for or avoid? Are all my assumptions correct and realistic?
