I'm 28 years old, single, no dependents. I literally saved this money solely to buy a "new car". I know cars only depreciate in value or at least that's what I thought. The last year used car prices have gone up. I have been scouring the used car market and haven't found a car that I both liked and has low mileage. Or at least low enough for a 7-8k car. As far as my background I've never bought anything real new, typically only cars around the $5k price range. They have always been used and with a fair amount of miles on them. I currently drive an older smaller pickup that needs some work and doesn't look too promising. I am a mechanic by hobby so I know how to work on cars but this one has been a problem child. I only bought it because I was ina hurry since my previous car got totaled . I feel at 28 I need to splurge a little bit and find something g worth my while. I found a $15k 5 year old suv with only 30k miles, a Toyota. Dealerships are asking around 18-20 for similar model with way more mileage, and simpler base model. I have around $15k cash $5k in the bank and can sell my current vehicle for 3-4k.
I don't really know what else to do with my money. Buying a home is a little out of the question. I am not a hs graduate and I don't want to keep my current job. I feel like purchasing this vehicle might give me a little bit give me some liberty to do things which I haven't done in the last 3 years due to my current hooptie. I am also a bit sketch about buying a vehicle with no warranty with $15k. Though the picture clearly looks like its owner is affluent. Should I go for it? Or should I keep looking for something a little less pricey?
P.s. this doesn't look like typical scam pics, it's also not like a too good to be true deal. It just looks like at that price, and being a Toyota it'll sell in a heartbeat.
