Let's talk /r/frugal.... First of all, this isn't anything new. I've been reading comments that try to break down opportunity cost and the value of time since I lurked this sub 4 years ago.

That being said, I don't know what half of you have fooled yourself into thinking that you are doing with your life that your time is worth so much. Unless you are using that extra time to do something productive, then your time is not worth more than something that saves money.

Have you ever considered that the reason people make decisions that take time but save money MIGHT be because they enjoy doing those things.

Yesterday I bought a turkey for 59 cents a pound... All together it's probably going to take 4-5 hours to butcher and cook. However, I enjoy doing that, and just because you don't doesn't mean your time is worth more, it just means you find joy in doing things that don't save you money. Which is fine by the way, but don't throw it in the faces of people who do enjoy those things like your time is worth $100 an hour....because unless you are getting paid $100 an hour then it's not.
