I live by an in-city produce stand. It sells regular stock as well as excess from produce suppliers and grocery stores, plus stuff from local growers. Some organic. Some of the stuff is less than perfect, like bell peppers that grew in funny shapes. Some is ripe. They have a terrific selection, including produce that is popular in Asian and Hispanic cuisine.
I love the prices on all their stuff. I adore the clearance section. Today they had flats with eight 1-lb. containers of strawberries for $1.99, as is. I got one, sorted them, ended up with 3 lb. that are fine and will last awhile, 3 lb. that are quite ripe and need to be eaten or frozen by tomorrow. Love these deals!
