I recently purchased a certified preowned vehicle, a 2015 Honda Civic SE. It's my first vehicle. I believe I'm pretty much set for the next decade, or more. Unfortunately due to circumstances I'd rather not get into, I ended up getting it with all these extended warranties: https://imgur.com/a/vwdHyNd.
It was dumb to get all of these, I know, I've beaten myself up already. Noob mistake. I realized that 24 hours later, and I immediately reached out, but the finance manager did not make it easy for me and the loan was final. Regardless, I'm still taking it off before they can claim that they can charge me a prorated price for these services because I used them or time passed or some other bull. I also got a weird call today asking me about the service I received yesterday, 10/30, when I did NOT go to any servicing center.
Basically, I'm pretty sure I can handle not having all of these (I have the certified preowned extended warranty for Honda vehicles, I already know of a honest, good mechanic, and a tire servicing place, etc). Overall, I went for a Honda knowing how trustworthy it is. Dents and dings are a bit more tricky, but I can live with it and based on how much I use the car, I'm pretty confident about it.
Instead I was thinking of getting AAA, and other similar services that won't charge me $2707 for five years. Am I going in the right direction? These warranties add a whole whopping $100 every month on my monthly payment, and basically my goal at the moment is to try and minimize all bills and really police all utilities. Unfortunately taking all the warranties off will not reduce the monthly fee/change the terms of the loan, but at least when I am ready to refinance in 6-12 months (currently 19k @ 6.75%) then at least the principal loan amount is way less than it is now; around 13k minus whatever payments I've already made.
