EDIT: With your SSN or other identifier like a driver's license number
I called ADT to potentially get some home security installed, understandably, because it is a "subscription" they need to do a credit pull. The woman on the phone asked for my SSN for the pull, I said, "no" and she was great, we finished everything, I told her my credit score and she said, "if all of this is true, here is your deal" (everything I wanted for $28/mo)
I said, "thank you, I need to think about it, can you email me this information?" she said, "yes, one second" a minute later her manager was on the phone telling me that I need to schedule NOW. I said, "no, I'm not moving in for another month or so and I can wait" she then told me "We already ran your credit, do you realize how much credit pulls hurt your credit score?"
First, my credit is frozen. Second, I get alerts sent to my phone if anything happens to my credit. Third, they didn't have my SSN!
So I tell her that she didn't pull my credit, she tells me that she did and that the credit bureaus already reported back. She siad it was Experian and I tell her that I LITERALLY HAVE THE EXPERIAN APP ON MY PHONE, and it shows nothing. I tell her that they didn't because I didn't give my SSN. She said she didn't need it, I said my credit is frozen. She said that she "unfroze it" to run the check.
I told her this is an uneducated conversation and I am done with it. She offered me a $100 gift card, I said no thank you, and hung up.
Its a shame too because they had the sale, I just needed a little time to process it.
Just a PSA because they were trying to bully me into a sale and that is not cool at all. Don't let people bully you into their products.
I also waited an hour and checked my report and there is still nothing.
Edit 2: all I want is a smoke alarm that calls the fire department and doors that auto lock. I’m open to suggestions— my dad says I should get a door camera, I’m open to it, but not sold on that yet.
