I have no clue if this is the right reddit to ask this in, but I feel like it is. I’m a 17 year old guy btw. So technically my grandad gave me his 1998 Plymouth Breeze and said If I can fix it I can get it registered. At first I was for this and spent 1k on fixes for this car. I don’t know much about cars but my family claimed they do. But the thing is after we put all of these fixes in, more issues occurred and now the timing belt is off, which is going to cost ALOT to fix, and theres leaks that’s coming from the radiator which will set me back another $100. I also need new tires which are pretty pricey and just overall it isn’t looking nice. So I have two choices.
Choice A. Continue working on the car until it’s fixed but lose a lot of money
Choice B. Make my grandad upset, and possibly have to put the car to a junkyard, but I buy a car from craiglist that won’t cost as much as I’m spending now.
Tl:Dr Been working on a car, cost more fixing then buying a new car but it wouldn’t make my grandad/family happy just abandoning the project.
