I’m looking to go out of state because I want to get away from home and the state is likely to be more expensive than out of state anyways. However, have to pay for college myself. While I have not ruled out a 2 year community college path, if I were to choose the classic four year college, Is ~8500 dollars in private loans a year and ~9500 dollars in federal loans a year for an environmental engineering major worth it? The starting salary for an environmental engineer is on average 65000 but the average environmental engineer makes 85000. If this is as low as I can get my tuition, is it worth it and will it pay off? Furthermore, will I be capable of paying off a 70k loan all by myself? I do plan on making payments throughout college as much as possible.
