I've picked up a scrap piece of wood, I believe it used to be the end of a drawer, and I'd like to attempt to turn it into some kind of chopping board. I'm not sure what type of wood it is, but it feels pretty dense and hard. These are old pictures, it has since been sanded down. I'm at a stage now where I believe I need to apply some protective coating(s) and maybe some sort of stain to give it a bit of life. There is also a sizeable crack running through it. Should this be filled? If not, what's the best course of action to treat it?Can anyone advise on which is a good oil or varnish to go with for this? Thanks! via /r/DIY https://ift.tt/2AdedmJ
