I am going to make some shelves out of yellow pine from Lowe's. I am getting them painted by a professional. Each shelf will be 2in x 12in x 40in (actual from Lowe's is 1.5in x 11.25in x 40in). Each shelf will probably hold around 20 pounds. The most expensive (and heaviest) item will be an Xbox.I was going to use floating shelf brackets like these. But I don't know if they would support the shelf with the dimensions I have (particularly thickness and depth).I have looked at many floating shelf tutorials but every person with a camera seems to have their own opinions on them. And the product descriptions are lacking. So, I thought about getting basic brackets like this. I will probably try to find less utilitarian ones but that is the idea. But again, I have no idea if I have to get 10 inch ones or 11 (12in would be too big).Summary: How does one figure out what kind of brackets can support a shelf (weight and dimensions)? via /r/DIY https://ift.tt/2OPxZNg
