I'm 66, and have lived on my own for most of the last 15 years. I did have a roommate at one time, but she was so horrid, I can't really say I wouldn't have another roommate because of her. She was an anomaly.
I live in a 500 SF apartment with a nice courtyard, but I really miss having a house and yard. My one problem is that I love quiet. I can't live with someone who has the TV on 24/7 or plays loud music, or has a lot of people over. Luckily, here I have rather quiet neighbors who only occasionally get rowdy watching sports, but never are annoyingly loud.
When I lived with the roommate, she was so bad that I ended up living in my bedroom, and I don't want to be in that situation ever again.
I'd like to save money by sharing a home, but I'm afraid I couldn't find like-minded people who wouldn't be annoying and make me have to move.
Has anyone else like me been able to make a "Golden Girls" type situation work for them? How did you find your roommates?
