I’m in an insanely expensive rental market, so a room in a 7bed/5.5bath mansion is actually $400 cheaper per month than a studio apartment, and includes the added bonus of knowing my car won’t get broken into every night because it’s such a wealthy neighborhood.
Am I missing something big here though? I’m really pumped about the idea of living in this giant beautiful place but I’m afraid I’m missing some obvious downsides. It seems too good to be true (aside from living with 6 roommates, but it’s so huge that I could avoid them if I wanted to.)
Has anyone ever rented a room in a giant house, and what kind of expenses turned up and surprised you?
