I went through a legal separation from a fiscally unsound person last year. He was mr spendy; we never had a savings account.
The first thing I did when he left me was get going on a savings account. I have $13,500 in there that I’ve saved in just over a year and a half. I’m working on getting 6 months of expenses in there.
My car broke down on me yesterday. It’s an older car but the engine and trans are in excellent shape and it’s paid for so I plan to fix it and keep it.
If it were not for my emergency fund I would be screwed. I have no family to rely on and my friends aren’t the type to have hundreds of dollars on hand to lend me. I’m so thankful I have this savings account. It’s all I’ve thought about since my car broke down, how thankful I am to have it.
