Preference: Cow/Buffalo/Camel Hide (I have been reading these are most durable), Full Grain, Vegetable/Wax Tan.

Problems: I run into a problem every single time. If it is not the warranty, it is the location of the company of which they source their leather or tanning process, which can be a little sketchy, or it might their customer service. It might be the type of leather their using. Above all else, it may just be the price.

Budget: $400.

Primary Use: I live near a border town where it is constantly humid, and it is steaming hot most of the time. I will stuff this item with books, laptops, notepads, etc. In other words, it will be heavy, and I do not want the straps/handles to tear, which is why I want durability. If it were to tear, I want to be covered under warranty. On top of that, I will more than likely throw it around a few times and it will probably get caught onto something, but I do not mind if it gets scuffed up. Regardless, I will be conditioning it regularly and try to maintain it.

So, not only durable, but a decent size as well.

Truthfully, I feel a little overwhelmed with the information and a little defeated because if I buy something, I want to last a lifetime, not break on me. Also, I simply want to reward myself for passing my board exam, but I can only afford $400 backpack or bag. I understand it is difficult to find something within this price range.

I remember reading that Saddleback’s leather/tanning is sourced in Mexico, so their prices should not be that expensive. Is there any other company that is extremely similar to SB but not as expensive?

[These are the type of bags I am looking for]( https://saddlebackleather.com/leather-front-pocket-backpack) [or this]( https://saddlebackleather.com/leather-briefcase).
