Let me see if I can keep this simple:

My parents have made terrible financial decisions all of their lives. Nice people, but more like children who are terrible with money. They are still in their 50s and have $10,000 in retirement savings between the two of them. Dad was the breadwinner and lost his job a year ago. He has found no work since but is barely looking due to disability. He is in constant pain, has no medical insurance, and only recently started the process of trying to obtain disability. This is a sinking ship and I have no idea how it hasn't gone completely under yet.

They are in the position they are in because they made bad decisions. I offered to help them sort it, they did not accept until it was too late... And even then, they only accepted half heartedly. I spent a ton of time and energy helping them clean things up and get a budget, but then things fell apart. The problem is, they're now disabled and will likely be homeless in a matter of months. They aren't doing anything to help themselves. I'm concerned this is a mess that is going to fall into my lap and I am so angry that they wouldn't let me intervene sooner. As for my husband, he thinks giving them money would be the equivalent of lighting it on fire, since they can't (or won't) stick to a budget. It's like they're watching a train about to go off a bridge but aren't trying to stop it. I think they think one day they will wake up and their problems will go away.

What can I do? Honestly, I don't want to be involved in this in any way because I'm so frustrated with it. I've been begging them for over a decade to make changes and they just will not. And now I'm starting to get bitter about the fact that they will need long term assistance because of these choices.

Everything I read says don't help them and I'm angry about the idea of bailing them out (and I'm honestly overwhelmed thinking about it), but every other scenario doesn't have them disabled with no medical care. How does this situation play out?
