I recently got hired at a new restaurant as a server. Right off the bat I knew something was wrong because he didn't want us to report our cash tips because he says "the government will take too much money from us if we report them" .

He had us come in on a Sunday before they opened for 2 hours to train us then I worked another 4.5 hours the next day before they figured out they could use their POS system to have us clock in/out. After that I got 31 hours for the rest of the week.

When I got my paycheck he only put down the 31 hours and when I brought it up to him that I was 6.5 hours short he told me that if I put the hours on I would make less because taxes would be more. After I said I don't really mind he said that he could add the hours to my next paycheck.

This doesn't affect me that much but someone else had the same thing happen to him and his hours would have been over 40 for the week, giving him overtime. What can we do?

Edit: just told him I'd rather put in my two weeks notice. I figured it'd be the best thing besides just up and leaving. Hopefully I'll get this sorted out but in the meantime I'm just going to find another job.
