I recently moved from the West Coast, and have never been outside in temperatures under 50 degrees. The weather's gotten cold recently, and I am realizing that I should have been more prepared in terms of my wardrobe. I did lots of research, and know that layers are key to staying warm in the fluctuating cold temperature throughout the day.
I know this post is a very frequent and annoying one to some on this sub, but I thought it would be worth it to repost because I get cold extremely easily. I feel that some others here don't have a strong need for a very heavy-duty winter jacket at this time of the year, but I know that if the weather today was not considered "terribly cold" by most, I am not going to survive this winter without a very warm jacket.
I am willing to spend $500 or less, if it will last me years.
So far, I'm looking at the LL Bean Baxter State Parka and Eddie Bauer Superior Down Jacket, but the length of the two does not seem to be long enough, and I'd like for a parka to be at least down to my thighs.
Would it look really out of place if I used either as a fall jacket?
I'd like to have a few more options, so if you have any BIFL jacket or parka recommendations (for extreme cold), please comment!
Thank you so much.
