Hi all!I have a light fixture with three bulbs that I took down for some cosmetic fixes. I didn't notice anything odd then, but now that it's time to put the light back up, I am noticing that my no-contact volt reader indicates a hot neutral (white) wire and a no-voltage hot (black) wire. Both wires are just short pieces that connect to two wires wrapped in black fabric kind of stuff. My guess is that whoever wired this got their colors confused, so that my hot wire is now white and my neutral wire is black. Does this sound plausible? Are there any other explanations for why I am reading what I'm reading?By the way, the position of the light switch doesn't change the readings at all, but I read that wirings where there is a charge even with the switch off are pretty common. Bonus question: The fixture has individual wires for each bulb: there are bare ground wires, but I can't see a difference between the two other wires. Does it matter which one I connect to the supply and to the neutral wires? Thanks so much! via /r/DIY https://ift.tt/2IZKpMU
