I'm currently apply for a role within a different team in my company. It would be a promotion of sorts, paying higher than what I make now (58k). During the initial HR phone interview I was not able to get the range of the position but was only told it would be a pay grade higher. I asked for 65k. She didn't give and indication of whether this was too low or high.

I did research later and found that typically these positions average around 70k. I was offered a final interview with who would be my new manager and if I get the job, does it look bad to ask HR for more money? I'm worried my credibility would be hurt if I ask for more. I'm worried I may have low balled myself.
