I just got a major promotion/raise...and I have no idea what I should do next. So a few months ago, I applied for my dream job thinking I wouldn't get it. The interview process went on for quite a few months and I was finally offered it! I accepted the offer and begin on Nov 1. With my old job, I made 80k/year. I was planning on purchasing a house to move into in the next 6 months. But with my new salary, I have no idea where to put my money or what to do with it?
I've lurked here long enough to know I need to save for retirement/reduce my debt, BUT I don't know what to do first. Here's a layout of what my situation looks like.
Debt - 85k student debt ($300/month payment)
Rent - 1300/month + $150 utilities
Credit Card - 1100 (will be 0 in 3 weeks)
Assets - 30k, one car (all paid off)
Cash - 1k
Retirement - 3k, will contribute 18k by end of year
NEW Salary - 215k/year
I plan on living the same as I was previously. The house I was planning on buying is budgeted at 300k or below. I'm not changing that at all. I would like to put away as much money as possible to gain the FIRE lifestyle. So I turn to you r/personalfinace, what are your suggestions on what I should do next?
