Prerant: Its become exceedingly difficult to research unbiased products from an open forum using Google because the results are always spammy blog/nes artcile sites recommending expensive/unnecessary products.

Does anyone here use a straight edge razor for shaving? It's so 1000x more economical than disposables and can be used indefinitely if you take care of it (sharpen once in a while).

How well would a cheap straight edge razor function if taken care of? Its it necessary to break the bank on a more expensive razor? I do not care about brands or aesthetics such as zebra bone handles and fancy logos (which blogs recommend). Are these more expensive blades using a higher quality metal? Is the trade off worth the price? Does it just last a few more shaves before requiring you to sharpen it?

For example, is there really a difference between these two blades besides the fancy aesthetics? Do they both function the same?

Would appreciate any feedback, as well as how you sharpen your blades, the frugal or DIY cream you use and how long they last.
