Hey everyone,
I am looking to buy a car, but I am not sure of my options as I would like to keep costs at a minimum.
Commuting wise to and from work, I will be driving roughly 26,000 miles a year. This car will be used primarily to go to and from work, and I drop my wife off at work in the morning, so we will have her car to do daily errands, as well as any other non-work related event that we need to use the car for.
With that being said, what are my best options for buying a car? I don't think a lease would work as 26,000 miles a year is a bit steep. Should I finance a new car? Should I buy used? Should I buy Certified Pre-Owned? The only worry I have about used is the amount of miles I will be driving yearly. The only concern I have with used is the amount of mileage I will be putting on this car every single year. I'm looking to be as frugal as possible, so I'm a bit hesitant about dropping X amount on a used car, only to have to drop even more money in the years following my purchase on things like a new transmission and other related maintenance.
Also, what would be the most frugal option in terms of a make of a car + longevity? Is it worth it to buy a certain make (even if it is a bit more expensive), just because the longevity of the car far exceeds a lesser model?
