I just ripped out old tile, and found some plywood subfloor that was almost completely rotted. I pulled up the plywood, which led to cement as this is a ground floor. Laid SLC which leveled out the floor perfectly, and laid tile. But the tile is now probably an inch lower than it used to be, because there were so many layers of rotting plywood! When I tried to replace the toilet it just wouldn't lay flat, I'm assuming because the flange is now too high.I've googled what to do and see suggestions of cutting down the flange, tracing the toilet outline and building a floor of grout to hold it, adding some shims and caulking around them, etc. I don't know what the best option is here.
