I just had a child and I went through the process of trying to preemptively freeze their credit at the three agencies. TransUnion and Experian created and froze my child's reports just fine. Equifax (of course, the reason I'm doing this in the first place) sent a letter back just stating that my child "may not have a current file".
I used the form from their website and sent along all of the appropriate documents. I thought with the new law, they were supposed to create a file and freeze it. Am I wrong in this assumption? If they are supposed to, how to get my child's credit frozen?
I live in Tennessee, if that helps. Thank you!
