I was about to go through the process of drilling a hole in the counter and attaching it to the disposal but I found this while cleaning out the crawl space under the kitchen. Seems the previous owners had the drain setup down here? Is it a good idea to attach to a pipe like this? Its in a crawl space and well below where the outlet from the dishwasher would be so I don't think there is any risk of backflow. It also has a U shape in the connection so the there shouldn't be any smells? I am not 100% confident in this though.
