Last year after browsing here I bought 2 jackets from Outdoor Research. Their Infinite Guarantee sounded promising and I liked that they were a local company to me. In May I purchased a Helium HD and lived it, super lightweight and easily packable. I wore this jacket frequently but once it started to get chilly I needed something bit heavier. Once again I turned to Outdoor Research and bought their Mithral, billed as a waterproof soft shell jacket.
Here’s my problem, the Helium while an awesome jacket has a seam that has separated and let’s water seap in over my chest. The Mithral also has a small seam coming undone which I could live with but since I was going to the store anyway I decided to bring both in to get checked out. It took a couple weeks but my gear was finally reviewed and they found no faults. I emailed and described the exact locations and they checked again. Still no defects found so they sent my jackets back. I’m stuck and frustrated, emailed again and included pictures of the defects but so far haven’t received a response(sent last Friday). I’m in Seattle and need a good rain jacket. I can’t trust the one I have to keep me dry.
