Car just broke down/ totaled. What I have a 30 mile commute each way. What should I do , I have work tomorrow, but can probably hold off until Monday. No public transportation option

I have 3k to allocate to a car. Any advice with limited time ? Should I try and wait to save 5k in 4 months ? What is a good price point to invest in a used car ( least investment for longest return ). I will settle for a Honda Civic but not to be greedy it would be cool to get a suburb hatchback as this is still a practical car I understand?
