Hi there, I need to fix the walls and floor of a wooden car garage on some land that I own in the UK. This building is entirely made of wood and over the decades has deteriorated quite badly, with some parts of the floor and walls completely rotten through.I have decided to begin by fixing the floor first, and plan to relay the entire floor as the garage is not too big. I would like some advice on whether I should fill in the space underneath the floor however. The foundation uses vertical sleeper boards with horizontal 2 by 4's nailed onto the top of them with the floor on top of that. This leaves about 8 inches or so of airspace underneath the floor which we put our foot into when we stepped on rotten boards. So should I fill in this space with gravel/sand/rubble so that if the boards rotted again there would be support for the timber or should I leave this airspace to hopefully allow the boards to dry faster?Edit: I can include some photos if needed - https://ift.tt/2z1uj0Z via /r/DIY https://ift.tt/2EI4ZTN
