This may be out of place. Not sure exactly where to post this but here goes. My boyfriend and I are saving up for a house. I had a baby a month ago and I've been out of work the last few months and plan on staying out of work until the holidays are over. The plan is for my boyfriend to finish up his last two classes to get his bachelors degree in the spring. He mentioned the possibility of him quitting the job he has for the spring semester and staying home with the baby on his time out of class. I think this would be a good idea to help him focus on finishing his degree and we won't have to worry about daycare or babysitters and I can work. My question is about out qualification for a mortgage for a house. If he only worked one day a week during that semester in order to keep employment so that he could have 2 years on employment next fall so we could buy a house without either of us being fulltime anywhere would that work? We were told one of us had to be either fulltime or be employed at the same place for 2+yrs to qualify for a mortgage due to rules set by those who insure mortgages for banks.
