Mods, feel free to delete if I break any rules as I’ve never posted here before!
My situation is I’m 19 and live w parents. I have suffered from debilitating anxiety and depression for around a decade now & i’m just able to start working as I haven’t had any treatment before this year and wasn’t able to hold a job for more than a month.
I have been at my current job for 3 months making 9.25/hour and averaging between 20-35 hours a week. ( I dish-wash at a small privately owned restaurant and my hours fluctuate with how busy we are, Ill get sent home 3-4 hours early some days because it’s that slow.) I’m also about to start a second job as a loading dock worker, pay should be $9.00-$9.50 an hour but they weren’t specific about it.
Once I start my second job, I will be working 5am-11am 3-4 days a week for my loading dock job and 3:30-8/11pm for 3-5 days a week at my dishing job. I’ll be averaging about 9.25$ an hour since the pay is similar if not exactly the same and around 60-80 hours per week.
I don’t own a car, and my monthly expenses since I still live at home average around $150-$200 a month (I buy my own food and help pay for groceries for my parents or my grandma)
I only have $285 in savings right now, but my father works at a car dealership is willing to go half and half on a used car from his dealership and I need about $1000 for this. I desperately need a car for work and I can feasibly get rides to and from until January at best, and I don’t have access to a vehicle for long enough periods of time to borrow for work purposes.
I also want to move out by the time I turn 20 in June next year and I have little financial planning skills or budgeting skills, any advice on how to manage my money and my time properly? Resources of any sort would be helpful.
Thank you!
